NAFA History

National Association of Forensic Accountants (NAFA) was founded in 1991 as the very first association of forensic accountants doing business with the property and casualty insurance industry. Also in 1991, we developed the Investigative Engineers Association, Inc. (I-ENG-A [in-juh]),

The I-ENG-A network today is the leading forensic engineering association providing services to the property and casualty insurance industry. The I-ENG-A network handles over $1 billion of potential loss liabilities yearly in investigative engineering and has over 150 representative offices throughout North America.

In 1981, prior to development of
NAFA, we founded First General Services, the nations first association of insurance restoration contractors in North America. In the first twenty five (25) years of First General Services, our members participated in well over $5 billion of insurance restoration.

In the last 1980s, several different insurance companies had come to us at different times stating how beneficial it would be to have an association of Certified Public Accountants similar to First General Services, which they could call on for claims settlement assistance. It was with this gentle nudge that we originated
National Association of Forensic Accountants (NAFA).
